How to get a job for the holidays – and beyond

Retailers plan to take on even fewer seasonal workers than they did last fall, which was not such a hot hiring season either, writes Fortune’s Anne Fisher in her Oct. 27 Ask Annie column. Are you looking for a seasonal job this year? Got any tips for finding one – or for turning it into a permanent one?

Discounters such as Trader Joe’s and Costco are good bets. Also seasonal sellers like Christmas tree lots or others who sell items people are unlikely to eliminate from their budget. There will also be a downmarket benefit to some businesses. People may not dine out – they may go to a place that specializes in upscale takeout as a compromise.

I suggest going to Careerlink.com, Nashvillejobslink.com, chattanoogahasjobs.com, spokanehasjobs.com, and whohasjobs.com. These websites have hundreds, even thousands of jobs for anyone looking. It’s free, no registration required, and you can even post your resume for employers to search you out as well! Very user friendly website. If you can’t find your geographical area on careerlink.com (main site), go to whohasjobs.com. This allows you to find your state and narrow it down from there. It’s been working for me! Good luck!
